Lowe’s Upcycled Vanity Tutorial:

Step 1: Choose an old dresser.

Tip: Choose a dresser at least 30-36 inches high, approximate counter height. If it’s too high, cut the legs. Be sure they’re level and sanded. A hand saw works perfectly cutting wooden legs.

Step 2: Prepare for the sink

A drop in sink or a vessel sink works perfectly for this project. We used the Kohler Bryant White Drop-In Oval sink. It came with a template, you can trace so that the sink in guaranteed to fit perfectly.  Centre the sink across your vanity top, positioned the sink an extra inch away from the front edge of the vanity, for more space in front. Leave enough room in the back for cleaning behind the tap.

Trace the cut out with marker.

Drill a hole big enough for your jigsaw blade to fit in, near the inside edge of your sink tracing.

Step 5: Prepare to paint.

Sand your dresser enough so previous finish is disrupted and new finish can be more easily absorbed.

We used Chalked, a tintable chalk  paint from Rust-o-leum tinted to Sensible Sage and finished with the matching protective top coat
